Rory Green
Rory is a british-Irish baritone based in Berlin, Germany. He has recently sung at houses including the the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, the Grand Théâtre de Genève, the Deutsche Oper Berlin, the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater and the Brandenburger Theater.
Rory is an alumnus of the University of Oxford and the Hochschule für Musik 'Hanns Eisler' where his teachers were Thomas Quasthoff and Christine Schäfer.
Rory sings a lot of modern music. In the past year, he has sung in the world premieres of three operas: Peter Eötvös' Sleepless at the Staatsoper Unter den Linden, German Alonso's Lovelease at the Deutsche Oper Berlin and Daniel Behle's Hopfen und Malz at the Brandenburger Theater. He also jumped into a production of Luigi Nono's Io, Frammento Da Prometeo at the Mecklenburgisches Staatstheater.
In 2020, he sang the role of Junius in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia with the Deutsches Symphonie Orchester conducted by Robin Ticciati.
As a conductor, Rory is the founder of the Mariana Voices Chamber Choir in Oxford and St Peter's Opera, with whom he led productions of Benjamin Britten’s The Rape of Lucretia and Albert Herring.
In the coming season, Rory will return to the Staatsoper Unter den Linden and will take part in a new production of Salvatore Sciarrino's Perseo e Andromeda.
