Margaret Newcomb
American mezzo-soprano Margaret Newcomb has performed as a soloist with Theater Kiel, Fort Worth Opera, Charlottesville Opera, Immling Festival, and Opera Fayetteville, to name a few, and as a regular chorus member of the Salzburger Festspiele.
Roles performed include Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Waltraute (Die Walküre), Eliza (Dark Sisters), Poppea (L’incoronazione di Poppea), Alcina (Orlando Paladino), Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), and Alisa (Lucia di Lammermoor).
Margaret was a prizewinner in the Metropolitan Opera National Council Auditions, International Immling Competition, and Joan Taub Ades Competition, and a semi-finalist of the Belvedere Competition. Margaret earned her Master’s and Bachelor’s of Music degrees from Manhattan School of Music, whereupon graduating she received the Hugh Ross Award, given annually to a “singer of unusual promise.”
