Andreas Heise

Since joining The Norwegian National Ballet in 2003, Andreas Heise has danced many prominent roles and solo parts in both the classical and modern repertoire. As well as principal roles such as Romeo in Corder's Romeo and Juliet and Albrecht in Coralli/Perrot's Giselle, Koschei in Scarlett's Firebird, and in autumn 2014 he danced the challenging double role as Osvald Alving and his father, Herr Alving, in Moum Aune and Espejord's world premiere of Ibsen's Ghosts. 

Other roles include Lensky in Cranko's Onegin, Drosselmeyer in The Nutcracker, Lysander in Sund's A Midsummer Night's Dream, the prison governor in Mac Millan's Manon, Morales in Carmen – a ballet in three acts,  Mitch in Neumeier's A Streetcar Named Desire and Romeo in Espejord and Støvind's Romeo & Juliet – a Modern Love Story. Andreas Heise has also danced prominent parts in many other choreographies, including those by Forsythe, Lightfoot and León, Kylián and Duato.

Heise also works as a choreographer and director. He has created several ballets for The Norwegian National Ballet, including Nucleus, Souls’ Complexions, Meditative Rose and Frühlingssehnsucht, and in the summer of 2013 he created the ballet I would like to … for the Ekaterinburg Opera and Ballet in Russia. He was responsible for directing The Norwegian National Opera's Il Combattimento di Tancredi e Clorinda in 2009, and was Assistant Director on Stefan Herheim's production of Strauss' Salome in the Main House in 2013.

Heise trained at the Palucca University of Dance, Dresden in his homeland of Germany, and danced with the Leipzig Ballet before joining The Norwegian National Ballet. In 2011 he studied theatre direction at East 15 Acting School in London, and in 2012 he participated in an intensive acting workshop at HB Studio in New York.
