Günes Gürle
In 1997 Turkish bassbaritone Günes Gürle won the jury award at the Leyla Gencer Gesangswettbewerb and was thereupon engaged at Teatro communale in Bologna as Don Giovanni, which he had already sung in Istanbul, Düsseldorf and Bern by then. He participated successfully in the Toti dal Monte and the Belvedere Singing Competitions, whereupon he became a member of the ensemble at Deutsche Oper am Rhein where he extended his repertory with important roles such as Leporello, Sparafucile, Dulcamara and Don Magnifico.
The title role in Donizettis Don Pasquale by Rolando Villazón brought him immense personal success. Further engagements in Beethovens Fidelio und Puccinis Turandot took him to the opera houses in Genf and Oslo. He also appeared alongside the London Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Berlioz΄ Les Troyens. He also debuted at Theater an der Wien in 2018 with Theseus in A Midsummernight’s Dream. In November 2018 he will be singing Dulcamara (Elisir) at the The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, Oslo.
