Adrian Angelico
Adrian Angelico, mezzo-soprano, made his Royal Opera House Covent Garden debut in 2014 singing the Marquise de Merteuil in John Fulljames's new production of Quartett followed by Flora in La traviata the year after. He was touring with Quartett in 2017 to France, Italy and Spoleto Festival USA.
He made his Bregenz Festival debut in July 2010, appearing in two new productions of Mieczysław Weinberg's operas Die Passagierin and Das Portrait. Other important debuts include his British operatic stage debut in English Touring Opera’s production of Flavio and Angelico’s debut as Carmen at Opera Trondheim.
Angelico studied with Neil Mackie and Poul Erik Hansen in Norway, Henning Vilén at Bel Canto Scandinavia in Denmark, Francisco Araiza at the International Opera Studio in Zürich, Kathleen Livingstone at the Royal College of Music and at the Benjamin Britten International Opera School.
His other repertory includes Cherubino (Le nozze di Figaro), the Fox (The Cunning Little Vixen), the title role in Handel’s Teseo and Le Prince Charmant i Massenet’s Cendrillon and Der Komponist in Ariadne auf Naxos.
In 2015 he sang the title role in NORA – too late, a new opera by Du Wei and Jon Fosse, with world premiere in Tianjin, China and on tour in Norway the year after.
Mr. Angelico’s concert appearances include Peer Gynt with Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra, Beethoven's Symphony no.9 with Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra and NDR Radioorkester Hannover, Trondheim Symphonic Orchestra's New Year's concert, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, St John Passion, Messiah, Mozart’s Requiem and a concert performance of L'enfant et les sortileges for The Norwegian National Opera.
His awards include two special prizes at the 2009 Queen Sonja International Music Competition and Wilhelmsen's Opera Prize for 2017, Norway’s biggest Opera Prize (€30 000).
Adrian made his Swedish debut at The Royal Opera in Stockholm as Octavian in Der Rosenkavalier (Loy) in spring 2018. Upcoming task is Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro at Gothenburg Opera in 2019.
