Meet the
WOYS singers

Meet our new talented singers!
WOYS (The Wilhelmsen Opera Studio for Young Singers) is a talent program for young singers who have just completed their education and are on the brink of their professional careers. In this first workshop concert, we will get to know all five singers individually and in groups.
Vocal and Stage Challenges for Young Singers
The new WOYS talent program has started with dramatic workshops, where the singers work on scenes from various operas, including Don Carlos, Eugene Onegin, Carmen, Albert Herring, and I Pagliacci. The singers meet each other in different configurations, allowing everyone to work together in various combinations. The selected scenes are based on the singers' voices and what we believe will challenge them vocally and dramatically.
Some of the roles they may not be ready for just yet, but this can reveal new sides of the young singers.
One of the most important aspects of these workshops is for the singers to work on their connection with the others on stage: learning to react, see, and listen, so that the body and voice express naturally. To encourage imagination, they are not allowed to use costumes or makeup.
Additionally, the workshop project includes a solo project for each singer, where they work dramatically on an aria. This is intended to make it easier and more natural for the singer when auditioning with their repertoire.
Om WOYS
